Want to spruce up your garden for the summer?
It’s the ideal time. UK temperatures are rising, the sun is starting to make an appearance, and – due to the COVID-19 crisis – we’re spending more time at home than we ever have done before.
So why not give it a little update? Here we offer a few garden improvement ideas to get you started.
- Invest in composite decking
Decking is a fantastic addition to any garden.
Not only does it look great – giving the space a contemporary and luxurious feel – it also creates a pleasant area for you and the family to relax. Simply add a set of wicker furniture, and you can soak up a little sun on a summer’s afternoon or perhaps entertain friends with a weekend BBQ.
What’s more, as the decking creates a link between the inside and outside, it can often add value to your property. In fact, composite decking – such as that available at Modern Garden – is said to have a financial return of up to 86%, making it a highly worthwhile and practical garden improvement.
- Update your fencing
The appearance of your fence can make a huge difference to the overall look of the garden. So, why not give it a new lick of paint? Stick to a classic shade, such as dark brown or terracotta. Or perhaps opt for something more modern, such as light grey or duck egg blue. It’s up to you. But either way, be sure to complete the look with a couple of pretty hanging baskets or a fence trellis.
In some cases, it may even be worth swapping out the old fence for new composite fencing. This is built using composite decking boards – and, as such, it is fade resistant and guaranteed to last a long time (no matter what the UK weather has in store!). It also boasts an attractive natural wood appearance and, available in grey, brown and black Decking, will complement any outdoor space.
- Artificial grass
Taking care of a lawn can be tricky. It can very easily dry out, weeds are likely to pop up and – if you struggle to find time to use the lawnmower – it can soon become overgrown.
One simple garden improvement, therefore, is to invest in artificial grass. In recent years, this has improved significantly in terms of its quality. It’s still very low maintenance; there’s no need to worry about mowing or watering. Yet, you can enjoy a plush and natural-looking lawn, all year round.
Artificial turf also creates a beautiful contrast against grey or brown decking. Pair the two together and, to inject a little colour, add a couple of wooden planters with bright flowers.
