What Are Fascia Boards & Why Are They Important?
Fascia boards are fitted vertically around the outer edges of a deck. Their main purpose is to cover areas of the decking structure that would otherwise remain visible once the boards have been installed.
The way they are positioned can depend on the design of the deck. Where decking boards run directly to the edge, deck fascia boards can cover the exposed ends and structure below. With a picture frame border, fascia can be fitted beneath the outer edge of the decking surface to complete the finish.
This makes fascia an important consideration when planning how you want a new deck to look. Without it, joists and other parts of the supporting structure may remain visible from the side.
Composite fascia boards also provide an alternative to timber around the edge of a composite deck. Using fascia that complements the decking itself helps create a consistent finish across the completed installation.
